Lakmusz becomes verified member of the European Fact-Checking Network

The European Fact-Checking Standards Network (EFCSN) had found that Lakmusz complies with the ethical and methodological standards set by the organisation.

Lakmusz has joined the European Fact-Checking Standards Network (EFCSN) community of more than 30 fact-checking organisations in Europe.

The EFCSN members agree to comply with the professional, ethical, and methodological standards (European Code of Standards for Independent Fact-Checking Organisations) This regulation sets out obligations such as:

These principles include:

- commitment to fair and accurate reporting;

- commitment to transparency of sources, of funding and of methodology;

- commitment to open and honest corrections policy.

For each new applicant, the EFCSN examines in detail whether the organisation's operations meet its expectations. Lakmusz's application was accepted in mid-December.

“Membership in the EFCSN signifies an organisation’s rigorous commitment to provide accurate information ethically and transparently, without bias or prejudice. Members focus on matters in the public interest and have a proven track record of excellence, integrity and accountability”

- as stated on EFCSN’s website.

This is our second major international recognition this year: at the end of May, we were also awarded the International Fact Checking Network (IFCN) certificate. We are proud to be part of these fact-checking communities: both on international and on European level.

We will continue to carry out our work to the best of our professional ability, in accordance with the IFCN and EFCSN standards, and in line with the editorial methodology and ethical principles detailed on our website.
